Can’t Decide on a Place to Eat for Date Night? I’ve got you covered.

This project is dedicated to all my friends who can never decide on a Restaurant….

Though I’ve been living in the Westside of Harlem for all of my life, finding a place to eat for girlsnight is my worst nightmare. It’s either my friends and I don’t know where to go, the place is too far for my friend’s 10pm curfew, or the food just isn’t what we thought it would taste like. Choosing the perfect restaurant for date night can be best determined by the location, cuisine description, grade, score, and reviews.

Map of Restaurants and Cuisines Across the Westside of 125th

The first step to finding that perfect restaurant is determining its location in relation to where you reside. Since most of my friends live on the West Side of 125th, we prefer to eat at a restaurant not too far from our current location. Below is a map of all the restaurants that had recorded grades and scores in within close proximity of where I reside (See my face on the map). The food markers on the map represent the different cuisines description.

Though I’ve lived in the Westside for 16 years, I was surprised to find that I have a variety of restaurants with different cuisines near my location! Why spend $5.50 to go Downtown when I have restaurants near me!

How are Restaurants Graded and Scored?

Since 2010, New York City has required restaurants to post letter grades that correspond to scores received from sanitary inspections. Grade cards must be posted where they can easily be seen by people passing by. Knowing the scores and grades of restaurants is a good way of determining the quality and sanitation of the restaurant itself. My girls and I prefer high class restaurants. So nothing below an A for girls night!

How many Cuisine Descriptions Received Grades of A, B, C, P?

Considering the sanitary conditions of the restaurants on 125th, it is important to consider how many cuisine descriptions received grades between A and P. From the data collected, nine restaurants that provided hamburgers for its customers received an A, six restaurants that have chicken on the menu received an B, and so on. Since restaurants that serve Hamburgers and Chicken received grades of an A, it is top 2 for the girls night options!
